Studio Koa is a full service production company founded by Emmy-winning filmmakers Farhod Family and Andrew Lampard.

Based in Boston and British Columbia, we make documentaries, commercials for high-end brands, and branded content for leading media companies.

Farhod Family

Farhod got his start in media in Iran, covering the country’s 2009 presidential elections. Since then he’s filmed, produced and directed documentaries and commercials across the world for various media outlets and brands. 

Prior to forming Studio Koa, he was a staff producer for CNN’s Great Big Story. His work has appeared in the New York Times, PBS Frontline, CNN, Fusion, and other outlets.

Fluent in French and Farsi, he is a dual citizen of Iran and the United States. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history and French from the University of Hawai'i and a master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of Journalism.


Andrew Lampard

Originally from Hawaii and British Columbia, Andrew began making videos in his childhood. Since then, he has directed, filmed, and edited multiple independent and broadcast documentaries, on subjects as varied as Kosovo’s succession from Serbia to Hula, Hawaii’s ancient cultural practice. His films have aired on network television and been screened at festivals worldwide. 

Prior to forming Studio Koa, Andrew worked as a journalist and producer for CNN’s Great Big Story, Reuters, and ABC News. He is also a journalism educator and has taught graduate seminars at Columbia University and New York University. 

He has a bachelor's degree in film studies from Queen’s University and a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University’s School of Journalism.
